The exhibition follows the thinking of Édouard Glissant: not to recount a closed narrative, but to ceaselessly invent new relations between continents.
Gonçalo Ivo is a Brazilian painter born in 1958 in Rio de Janeiro. A major figure of the international contemporary scene, for more than forty years he has developed an abstract body of work, deeply marked by colour, light and natural rhythms.
Through paintings, drawings and works on paper, Gonçalo Ivo composes a dialogue between geographies and cultures. The coloured bands that characterise his recent work evoke both the kente fabrics of Ghana and the landscapes of the Brazilian Nordeste.
